Dergide, 2007 yılında yayınlanan üçüncü albümü “Good Girl Gone Bad”in 2008’in ocak ayında tekrar piyasaya sürülmesi, Kanye West ile birlikte çıktığı “Glow in the Dark” turnesi ve Gucci ile imzaladığı kontratın, Rihanna’ya bir yılda 15 milyon dolar kazandırdığı belirtildi.

Mutluluktan havalara uçan Perry, ödülü aldıktan sonra “Bu benim ilk NRJ ödülüm, herkese teşekkür ederim” dedi. Ve ödül verildikten tam 90 dakika sonra törenin sunucusu Nikos Alliagas şok açıklamayı yaptı:
“Maaleasef çok büyük bir yanlışlık oldu ve bunun için gerçekten çok üzgünüz. “En İyi Uluslararası Şarkı” ödülü aslında Katy Perry’nin değil, ‘Disturbia’ parçasıyla Rihanna’nın. Umarız Rihanna ve Katy Perry bize çok kızmazlar. Onlara oy veren bütün hayranlardan da özür diliyoruz.
